Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN CRAIGEN NICOL With courage and dignity John Craigen Nicol passed away March 8, 2005 just shy of his 92nd birthday. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 93 years Viola; his three children, Beverly (Murray) of St. Catharines, ON, Donna and Douglas of Winnipeg, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean of Brandon, MB and Mary of Merritt, BC and numerous family and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers Charles and William and a sister Margaret. John was born on his parents farm in the Brandon, MB district June 16, 1913. During his early years, he worked on the farm. After meeting Viola in Souris, MB, they moved to Thunder Bay, ON where John was employed at Canada Car. In 1942 they moved to Winnipeg to raise their family and John was employed with Manitoba Telephone System. After retiring in 1975, they spent many fun-filled weekends at Balsam Bay with Grace and Archie. In 1990 they moved into Columbus House where he made new friends and particularly enjoyed Friday afternoon tea. In his later years he looked forward to lunch at Smitty's and an afternoon at Club Regent with Gord and Evelyn. At John's request cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. Interment will take place at Thomson In the Park Cemetery for the immediate family at a later date. At this time the family wishes to extend a special thank you to Gord and Evelyn Holman for their help and thoughtfulness, Dr. Khan and the staff at Concordia Hospital and all the kind home care workers.
