ALICE GERTRUDE SRIGLEY (nee LARSEN) Peacefully, surrounded by her family, Alice Srigley passed away after a brief illness, on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at the St. Boniface General Hospital. Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years, Jim; three daughters, Andrea (Larry), Cathy (Carl), and Terri (Neil); her two devoted grandsons, Sean and Joel Lindgren, also Eric Lindgren and Dawn Milligan; sister Doris Mattson; brother Ed Larsen and wife Linda; brother-in-law Gerry Srigley; sister-in-law Susan Gareau; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Alice was born in Winnipeg on May 10, 1929 and lived here all her life. She graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and met Jim, the love of her life, at the age of 13, when he followed her home from school one day. They were married on August 12, 1950 and together raised their family in St. Vital. Alice was known to many friends and family as Spooky . She loved to travel and had many happy memories of trips to California, Hawaii, Jamaica, Mexico, Toronto, the Maritimes, Victoria, Biloxi, New Orleans and Branson. Alice was a talented seamstress, making many of her daughters' clothes in their younger years. She taught her daughters to garden, was an accomplished stained glass artist, knitter and most recently an avid quilter. Alice was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and her family and friends will always remember the many happy gatherings at her home. Her family was always the most important thing to her and she was very much loved. She enjoyed her daily walks and since Jim retired, he was a reluctant participant on these forced marches . One of her favourite places was the St. Vital Park duck pond. The family will be donating a park bench in Alice's memory to the park, as this was her wish. In recent years, she enjoyed the activities at Vic Wyatt House, such as pool, the quilting classes and the Friday night happy hours. The friendships she made there meant a lot to her. In accordance with Alice's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Our family would like to express their sincere thanks to all the doctors, nurses, support staff and especially Lorena McManus at the St. Boniface General Hospital, who cared for Alice. Your kindness will not be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Alice's memory may be made to Palliative Care at the St. Boniface General Hospital, or a charity of their choice. Forever in our hearts, rest in peace, Mom. WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
