Date of Passing: Mar 04, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) PRESONKA It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Presonka on March 4, 2005. Bill is survived by sister-in-law Laurette of Winnipeg; nephew John and his children (David and Melanie); nephew Rick (Eleanor) and son Rick (Lorraine) and their son Ricky; niece Dyane (Scot) Partridge of Calgary; step-daughter Jean Ferris; step-grandson George Ferris (Judy); step-granddaughter Betty (Russ) Hatter; and the rest of his extended family. Bill was predeceased by, his loving wife Elizabeth; his parents Harry and Melania; his sister Marie; and his brother John. Bill started working at an early age selling papers at Portage and Main. This being the hub of the financial district of Winnipeg at the time lead Bill to meet many interesting people. They were mostly lawyers and investment brokers. Bill had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and learnt a great deal from these people. He applied the knowledge he gained in his early years to his job at Canada Iron and became an active member of International Molders and Allied Workers Union. He was elected to the executive of the union, where he served as secretary treasurer for many years, and thoroughly enjoyed attending meetings across North America. Bill's favourite saying was to the employer You fire them and I'll hire them. This was in reference to his ability to get fired workers their jobs back. Bill also enjoyed playing the stock market and was very successful at it. Bill even bought stock in the company that he worked for just so he could tell his boss you can't fire me, you work for me. We would like to thank the staff at Oakview Care Centre for taking such good care of Bill in his final months. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Ferris, Ricky Presonka, David Presonka, Ron Kuhtey, Fred Ward and Paul Zdyrko. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in William's memory to the Heart Stroke Foundation.
