NELSON (NEIL) EDWIN JOHNSON November 25, 1930 - March 11, 2005 It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Neil Johnson. With family and friends at his side, Neil lost the battle to cancer and passed away peacefully at Eriksdale Hospital. He will be lovingly missed by Gwen, his wife of 47 years; his children, Tom (Lorna), Heather (Scott) Jensen, Lorna (Randy) Hordal, Warren (Carey); grandchildren, Nicole (Dave), Stacey (Wayne), Amanda (Gord), Crystelle, Colin, Deanna (Brian), Miles, Ryan, Kara, Cameron; and great-granddaughter Alexandria. He is survived by his sister Aenone (Reg) Studler; in-laws, Winnie Johnson, Anne Johnson, Elsie Gislason, Vera Lebel, Helen (Cally) Beauchamp, Ken (Sylvia) Mason, Marlene (Bob) Miller; along with many nieces and nephews. Neil was proud of his Icelandic Heritage. In his younger years he successfully competed in track and field events and hockey. He met the love of his life and married on May 4, 1957. He dedicated his life and love to his wife Gwen, children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Neil loved to laugh and enjoyed nothing better than being in the company of family and friends, sharing stories, food and a friendly drink. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and took great pride in his herd of Hereford cattle. He was predeceased by his parents, Einar and Sigurbjorg; his sister Stefania; and brothers, Johann, Emil, Lorne, and Jack. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. in the Oak Point Community Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment to follow in the Johnson Cemetery in Oak Point. The family would like to thank all the staff at Eriksdale Hospital for their care and support.
