MARY KOWALCHUK On March 12, 2005, Mary Kowalchuk passed away on her 89th birthday at the St. Boniface Hospital. Mary was predeceased by her husband Peter, in 1981; twin daughters at birth; three sisters, Martha, Katherine and Pauline and one brother John. She is survived by her children, Mike (Noreen), Norman (Faye), Pat, Betty (Henry); 12 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; niece Mary (Ted) Malenchak and nephew Mike (Jean) Uchach and close family member Nick Rychlicki. Mary was born in Meleb, MB on March 12, 1916. She met and married her husband, Peter, in Meleb on May 25, 1935. They had a family of two sons and two daughters and continued to farm in this area until moving firstly to Inwood, then Teulon and lastly to Winnipeg in 1962. In 1976, Peter and Mary moved to the Canadian Polish Manor where Mary resided until her passing. Mary was a gentle and kind person and could always be relied on to offer help when needed. She loved her family and worked very hard to always make a better future for them. She was a good friend to many and thoroughly enjoyed visits of family and friends. Her family was the world to her. Mary loved flowers and enjoyed her gardening very much. She enjoyed socializing with friends and travelling, but unfortunately, due to ill health, was not able to do so in her last years. She will be sadly missed and will always be loved in the hearts of those who knew her. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the 4th floor, Units 10 and 11 at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and patience with our mother. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for your wonderful care and compassion to our mother in her last few days. Thank you for your sincere kindness to our family during this difficult time. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel. 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Virgin Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Ave. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Darren Kowalchuk, Ken Kowalchuk, David Kowalchuk, Karen Kowalchuk, Brett Kowalchuk and Neil Crockford. Flowers accepted or donations may be made in Mary's memory to the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
