CECILE BERARD On March 11, 2005 after a lengthy illness, our beloved Mom, Cecile Berard passed away in the arms of her loving family. Mom would have been 90 on August 13. Mom was predeceased by Dad in 1999; our brother JP in 1998; son-in-law Bill Kidd in 1989. Mom was one of the most gentle, caring and loving person in this world. Her memory will live forever in the hearts of her five children, 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She leaves to mourn her children, Gilbert, Yvette, Rose, Paulette, Carol (Doug); daughter-in-law Marie (JP) deceased; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, John (Joanne); Bob (Trish), Kelsey and Natalie; Marc (Hilary), Michael, Marcus and Allisa; Michael (Jenny), Kiana, Paisley, Tucker and Eli; Susanne (Richard); Leanne (Raymond); Darren (Claire), Shanti; Kevin (Amber), Jessie; Marlene (Dennis), Nicole, Ashley; Mona, George and Lewis; Michelle (Alan) Tara, Rebecca, Fred and Jason; John (Michelle), Cody and Kylee; Derek (Joanne), Summer; Corey (Mel), Celicia; Shelley (Kevin), Matthew and Kailyn; Sherry (Art), Courtney and Taylor; Rachelle, Melissa and Monique. Our Mom's mother was Elide Colette, and her Dad was David Dupuis. She had three brothers, Bill deceased (wife Anne); Rose (Jos Salnek); Marcel deceased (wife Kay); Alice, Andy (wife Jean); and Adeline (Walter Starodub); and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Our Mom became a mother at the tender age of 14 when her own mother passed away at the age of 33 giving birth to a baby. She was left to care for her six siblings. She married Ovila Berard in 1936 and raised their own six children on a farm (Hope Farm) in St. Jean Baptiste. Mom was a devoted wife and mother and worked physically hard during those farm years. After many years in St. Jean, Mom and Dad sold their farm, moved to Winnipeg and took many winter trips to Phoenix and other southern US cities. With great pain and courage she faced the death of her baby boy JP and five months later the death of Dad. Having previously cared for her son-in-law Bill during his illness she knew the heart wrenching pain to lose those so close to her heart. She had spent the last four and a half years in a personal care home, spreading her warmth and love to all those who were lucky enough to have known her. No one ever left her room after either a visit or a nursing care without being thanked and kisses showered on her. Mom's most precious possessions were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Now, she is finally resting in peace reunited with the loved ones who predeceased her. A special thank you to Mom's sister Auntie Alice who faithfully visited her weekly for the past years. Special mentioned also to granddaughter Marlene who along with her two girls Nicole and Ashley and friends Dennis visited with her every Wednesday. We, the family, would like to express our thanks to the following people at Pembina Place: Jim Hardy, and Avril for all the parking and the guest room, the kitchen staff for the carts of food and beverages wheeled up every day and the nurses and HCA's who gave us and Mom so much care and compassion not to mention their shoulders to cry on. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fire Fighters Burn Fund. If roses grow in heaven Lord pick bunch for us Place them in Mom's arms And tell her they are from us Tell her we love her and miss her And when she turns to smile Place a kiss on her cheek And hold her for a while A funeral service officiated by Father Peter Monty, S.J. will be held on Tuesday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy.#1 at Navin Road. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. #1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241
