STANLEY RICHARD VEATCH Stanley Richard (Dick) Veatch passed away on January 3, 2005 while in San Francisco. Dick was a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Winnipeg from 1967 to 1991. He was born in Bedford, Indiana, in 1926, and received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Geneva, Switzerland. At the University of Winnipeg, Dick was the Chair of the Department of Political Science, a member of the Board of Regents and of the University Senate. He was the author of Canada and the League of Nations (1975) and numerous articles dealing with the League of Nations and Permanent Court of International Justice. He retired in 1991. Dick was married to Lorraine Miller and had two sons, David and William. His widow and his son David will continue to live in Winnipeg. A Memorial Service to celebrate Dick's life will be held in the Chapel of the University of Winnipeg (enter from Balmoral Street) on March 18 at 3:00 p.m. A reception will be held afterwards at the Faculty Club. Students, colleagues and friends of Dick Veatch are invited to attend. Donations may be made payable to The University of Winnipeg Foundation , Department of Politics Scholarship Fund in memory of Dr. Richard Veatch.
