MYRTLE ELIZABETH MORRISON (nee TOWNSEND) With sadness, we announce Myrtle's passing. She left us peacefully on Saturday, March 12, at Seven Oaks Hospital. Myrtle, daughter of Albert and Frances Townsend, was born at Eden, MB, on April 7, 1916. Growing up in the country, she learned, carried and shared a unique appreciation of the prairie landscape, from its simplest grasses and wildflowers to its beautiful trees and sunsets. Her appreciation for nature inspired a love of art, and in later years, photography. Many happy hours were spent at her cottage in Big Whiteshell where she photographed flora and butterflies. She approached her career in teaching with the same passion. After graduating from Provincial Normal School in 1937, Myrtle taught at Mountain View, Dumphries (Neepawa), Carrick (Mackinack), Roskeen (Kelwood) and Rapid City school districts, as well as St. James Assiniboia in Winnipeg. She enjoyed her teaching career, particularly the spontaneity of her grade one classes. Myrtle's creative talents, and the coaxing of her daughter, brought her to become a member of the Miniature Enthusiasts of Winnipeg. She specialized in making miniature candy and flowers. Her late husband Garnet shared her interest in miniatures, and they delighted in attending shows both in Canada and the U.S. Myrtle was loyal, kind and loving to her family and friends. Her unique understanding and appreciation of life and of beauty touched all who knew her. She was predeceased by her parents; stepfather Norman Anderson; sister Evelyn Boyd; husband Garnet and daughter Linda Coulter. Left to cherish her memory are grandchildren, David and Lindsay Coulter; sister Inez Grady (Cecil) and family; brother-in-law Clayton Morrison (Agnes) and family; and dearly loved cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and compassion in these recent weeks. Funeral services will be held at the Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, on Friday, March 18 at 1:00 p.m. Following a short reception at the funeral home, private interment will take place at Thomson in the Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 Broadway 783-7211
