GREGORY LAWRENCE SLATER November 26, 1977 - March 15, 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gregory Slater, aged 27 years. Greg leaves to mourn his loving wife Nancy and beautiful daughter Raegan Mackenzie Dawn; his mother Shirley Slater (Krause); Papa Ken Carter; his brothers, Toby (Sheri) and Davey, and his cherished sister and best friend Jenny. Also mourning are his father David Slater (Marlene); his step-brothers, Christopher, Glen and Jason and his little sister Jade, and his grandmother Marion Slater. He leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins and his nephews, Zachary and Gage, as well as his niece Stephanie. Greg was predeceased by his grandfather John Smith and his auntie Liz Chambers. Greg will also be missed by his wife's family, mother and father-in-law, Martha and Len; brother-in-law Brian (Val); sisters-in-law, Diane (Wes) and Bernice (Marvin); nephews, Christopher, Alex and Riley as well as their niece Brittany. Greg was the most caring and gentle person, he cares about everything and everyone around him, which was rewarded for by his long list of lifelong friends. Friends were easily made by Greg, his laugh was infectious, when he laughed, everyone laughed. Greg loved being with his family and friends, even if there was nothing special going on, just being with them was enough. Greg made the most out of his time here, and we will cherish him always. Prayers will be held Saturday, March 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. Funeral Services will take place Sunday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m. also in the chapel, with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Steinbach Credit Union Trust Fund for Raegan. Our Brother As kids, We lived together, We fought, We Laughed, We Cried. We did not always show the love that we all had inside. We shared our dreams and plans and some secrets too. All the memories we all share, is what bonds us now to you. We grew to find we have a love, that is very strong today. It's a love shared by our family that will never fade away. You are our brother not by choice, but by the nature of our birth. We could not have chosen a better one, you were the best on earth. It was yesterday, When you were around and about cheerfully, But now that has changed so drastically, You left us so soon, and unfairly. Your time here was cut short, But we have to think, as hard as it is, It was for a better worth. We will never forget, the good, the bad, all that was sad. Your memory will never rest, Even though you've gone to rest. Your memory will thrive, In our everyday lives, But we will survive. When we feel the wind in our hair, And hear a whisper in our ears we will know you are here...see you later Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
