MURIEL ALEXANDER 1932 - 2005 Muriel Elizabeth Hartin Alexander of Winnipeg, MB passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Oakview Personal Care Home at the age of 72. Left to mourn her passing are nephew Terry (Rosella) Atkinson; niece Karen (Greg) Hygaard and family: Dylan Hygaard, Kelsey Hygaard; as well as numerous cousins and friends, particularly her long-time and loyal friends Kathy and Ray Donnelly. Muriel was predeceased by her sister Wilma Atkinson (2004) and her parents Robert and Elizabeth Alexander. Muriel was born in Vista, MB on November 4, 1932. As a teenager she worked in Brandon for a time and then later moved to Winnipeg where she worked at MTS for many years. Muriel drew strength and pleasure from her faith and her association with Grant Memorial Baptist Church, including her early years with the choir. All her life, Muriel enjoyed listening to music and playing piano and eventually harmonica. Even though arthritis plagued her in latter years, a good concert could bring her to her feet and she could ignore the pain. Muriel loved to be out and about', observing and mingling with people. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Oakview Personal Care Home for their efforts over the last month trying to help Muriel adjust to her new way of life. It was not an easy transition for any of us, especially Muriel. Flowers are gratefully declined; if desired, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, 105-386 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3R6. In keeping with Muriel's wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 22 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway.
