ELIZABETH ANN CAREY-MCKECHNIE December 12, 1955 - March 16, 2005 With her loved ones at her bedside, Elizabeth (Beth) left us peacefully on Wednesday, March 16, 2005, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Beth is survived by her loving husband Andy; parents, Neville and Nelda Carey of Stonewall, MB; brother David of Edmonton, AB.; sister Donna (Green) of Balmoral; two stepchildren, Bruce and Heather; brother-in-law Clint (Lois); mother-in-law Jean (Jim Russell); nieces and nephews, Katelyn (Green), Tracy and Tristan (Carey), and Lori and Mathew McKechnie (Clint and Lois' children); as well as numerous relatives and friends. On December 12, 1955, Beth was born in Regina, where she attended Dover School. After moving to Winnipeg with her family, Beth attended Bruce Jr. High and Sturgeon Creek Collegiate, where she graduated with honours. Upon completing school, Beth worked in Winnipeg for some time before moving to Edmonton and then Fort McMurray, AB. She returned to Winnipeg, and worked at David L. Jones Wholesale for 17 years. Beth and Andy met in 1986 and married July 15, 1989 and eventually made their home in Charleswood. She enjoyed her home and could often be seen outside tending to her flower beds, the yard or out for a walk with their dog Eldon. Beth and Andy enjoyed the company of their many good friends, Brent and JoAnn, Karen, Shelley and Ron, Stan and Verna, Alex and Louise and many others. Beth's funeral service will be held on Monday, March 21 at 2:00 p.m. in Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Ave. (at the corner of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue), with Pastor Henry Ozirney of the New Life Baptist Church officiating. Our family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation for all of the kindness and support offered by Dr. P. Harris; Grace CancerCare Clinic and staff, Holly, Rhonda, Kathy, Marie, and Marilyn Wijdekop (Social Support); the 5th floor nursing staff; Chaplains, Captain Faye Shail, Lieut-Colonel Maxwell Ryan and Gordon Jarvis.
