WILLIAM (BILL) TAIT ATHEY

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) TAIT ATHEY 1920 - 2005 Bill passed away peacefully on March 16, 2005, at the Lynwood Care Facility in Edmonton, after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his three children, Rick (Vancouver), Carol (St. Albert) and Alix (Victoria); and his grandchildren, Cassie, Ben and Rachel; and many nieces and nephews. Bill also had a very special relationship with his son-in-law David Bruce Campbell. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy; his parents; his brother Ross; and sister Georgina. Bill served overseas with the R.C.A. during the Second World War from 1941 to 1945. After the death of his father George in 1960, he joined his brother Ross in partnership at the Sturgeon Creek Garage until 1978 when they retired. He was active at the Sir Arthur Currie Legion, Branch No. 112. The family enjoyed spending weekends at their cottage at Brereton Lake, MB. He was a devoted son, father, husband and member of his community. His children will remember his beautiful smile, the life lessons he taught them, his work ethic and his tremendous sense of humour and fairness. The family would like to thank Dr. G. Schwalfenberg and all of the staff at Capital Care Lynnwood, 2nd Parker and 2nd Lynnwood in Edmonton. Your support, care, smiles and hugs meant more than words can ever say. Our father was blessed to have all of you care for him. Cremation has taken place. At Bill's request, there will be no funeral service. His final resting place will be Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Winnipeg beside his wife Dorothy. If we have a single flower for every time we will think of you, we can walk forever in your garden. We will miss you, Papa.
