WILLIAM (BILL) SETTLE We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Bill Settle on March 15, 2005 at home with his loving family by his side. Bill will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his loving wife of 34 years Margaret. He will be remembered with love by his daughters, Donna (David), Suzanne (Carol); and his stepchildren, Dorothy (Brian), Butch (Wendy), Joe (Carey), Diane, Paul (Pat), Wayne (Joy), Linda (Beth); 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. His sisters, Mary, Dorothy and Vinnie; as well as his brother Bob; and sister-in-law Jean; 27 nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Kay and Jane; and all Dad's friends. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Amelia; and his brother Fred. Dad served in the Korean War. In Dad's early years he worked for the Ontario Post Office as a mailman. He then went to Federal Moving and Storage, then to United Van Lines. He then spent the rest of his life doing what he loved the most, driving truck for Quick Transfer, where he worked for over 20 years and gained his extended family, the Mueller's. Dad met many friends on the road in many places. Truck driving was his true passion. Mom was his partner on the road for many years. Where Dad was, Mom was always with him. Dad always told many stories which we all loved to hear. Dad drove up until two years ago when he took sick. Another passion of Dad's was woodworking he had such talent. He built and helped build many things, every family member has something that Dad built. He took great pride in his work. His last project was a beautiful gazebo, where he and Mom spent many days and nights. He passed those talents on to his stepsons. Dad had a keen intelligence and a quick dry wit, which he used to bring out the best in others. Dad was a generous and gentle person who loved life and looked forward to each and every day. The family would like to thank the St. Boniface Hospital and Palliative Care for giving such good care to Dad and great support to the family after we brought him home. An extra thank you to health care nurse Wanda who looked after dad for the last two years. At Dad's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. If so desired, donations may be made in Bill's memory to the Palliative Care 8th Floor, St. Boniface Hospital or CancerCare Manitoba. Bill rest in peace now. We will always love you. God looked around his garden And found an empty space He then looked down upon the earth And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful He only takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew that you were in pain, He knew that you might never, Get well upon this earth again. He knew the roads were getting rough And the hills were hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered, Peace be thine It broke our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111 Family and friends are invited to sign The Book of Condolences at: www.gleneden-mb.ca.
