MARGARET RIEL (nee CRAIGIE) Peacefully, with family by her side on March 18, 2005, Margaret Riel passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 80 years. Margaret Maggie is survived by her children, Richard Riel, Raymond Riel, Susan Smith (Richard) and Janice Zantingh (Don); brothers and sisters, Florence Matthews (Ray), Jimmy Craigie (Eileen), Irene McNaught (John) and Doug Craigie (Donna); grandchildren, Raymond Riel (Susan), Debbie Touchette (Rick), Cathy Rose (Darryll), Joy Denyer (Neil), David Riel (Lynn), Joe Chambers (Marta), Brian Riel (Bonnie), Derek Riel (Sarah), Michelle Foreman (Jeff), Shannon Riel (Cam), Michael Chambers (Crystal), Keith Riel (Tracy), Charlene Zantingh, Ryan Zantingh (Michelle), April Riel (Duncan), Angie Zantingh (Derek), Ashley Riel; great-grandchildren, Matthew (Rose), Brittany, Alexander, Charley, Lorne, Hailey, Chelsea, Cara, Ann, Hannah, Mason, Marcus, Nathaniel, Matthew (Foreman) and newest family member baby Emma . She was predeceased by the love of her life and husband Joseph Riel; sister Edna Simpson; and mother and father, James and Florence Craigie. Margaret was born April 14, 1924 in Winnipeg, MB at home in St. Vital. She married Joseph Riel in 1940 and spent 45 years together prior to his passing in 1985. Margaret was long time employee with Eaton's Catalogue Sales until its closing. Grandma's favourite things in life were her grandchildren and more recently her great-grandchildren. If grandma wasn't with her grandchildren or great-grandchildren she was either at Bingo with daughter Sue or playing cards with her brothers and sisters. Grandma will be remembered most for her ability to find the good in everything and everyone, her love for music, dancing and family get-togethers. Grandma will also be remembered for her Afghans she made for everyone in her life which without a doubt will be treasured forever. Dearest Mother - Grandma - Great-grandma - Sister and Friend. We all love you and will always love you. The love you gave us will always be cherished and our thoughts and memories of you will be remembered and carried on forever. The family would like to thank the fifth floor Internal Medicine staff at the St. Boniface Hospital who gave us and grandma such care and understanding. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, PO Box 12013 Stn Brm B, Toronto, ON M7Y 2L3.
