JUSTINA EDIGER On Monday, March 21, 2005 Justina Ediger, aged 92, completed her journey here on earth and went to be with her Saviour and Lord. She was the third of seven children, born November 25, 1912 to Gerhard and Justina Plett. She spent her childhood in Molotchna colony, southern Russia. In November, 1940 she married Abram Martens. They only had 10 months together when Abram was sent to a forced labour camp where he died a short time later. With the turmoil of the Second World War, her flight out of Russia led her first to Germany and then to Paraguay, S.A. with her young son. Shortly after arriving, she married Heinrich Ediger, a widower. Together they established a new life and had three daughters. They spent 20 years farming and ranching in a very harsh climate. In spite of the difficulties, they were thankful to God to once again have the freedom to express their faith and fellowship with a community of believers. In 1968, the Ediger family immigrated to Canada. She often described Canada as the best country she had ever lived in. She experienced much joy spending time with her family. She spent the last two years as a resident of Donwood Manor. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff for their excellent care. Justina was predeceased by her husband, Heinrich in 1993. She is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Thiessen and Suse Wiens; one son, Henry Martens (Rosemarie); three daughters, Elizabeth Warkentin (Erich), Ann Ediger, Jessie Duerksen (Artur); stepchildren in Germany, Margereta Sorin, Maria Seiler (Walter), Heinrich Ediger (Linda); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m. at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren church, 1315 Gateway Rd. The viewing will be prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Family Life Network. I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. John 6:47 Funeral arrangements by Friends of the Family, 222-8080.
