Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY WILLIAMS (nee PARKER) Peacefully with family at her side, Dorothy Williams, formerly of Portage la Prairie, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2005 at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre, Winnipeg, at the age of 97 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Stephen; son Kenneth; parents, Frederick and Lavinia Parker; and siblings, Jack, Maude, Lavinia, Fred, Ethel, Frank, Winnifred and Charlie. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Pearl (Donald) MacPherson of Richmond, BC and Donna (Bill) Smyth/Beasley of Dade City, FL; sister Daisy (Cecil) Clark of Neepawa, MB; along with seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was born in Kirmington, England and came to Canada in 1925. She married Steve in 1929 and they made Portage la Prairie their home. She became a member of St. Mary's la Prairie Anglican Church and was very active in her service. She was president of the W.A. for 17 years and was a Life Member, led the Junior Auxiliary and her main love was the Thrift Shop which she organized for years. Dorothy always kept busy. She was known for her quilting skills, knitting many sweaters and afghans, keeping her cookie jar full and making gingerbread for Christmas. Her grandchildren were the centre of her life and she was the centre of theirs. She lived a Christian life with strong family values. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 24 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary's la Prairie Anglican Church, 36 2nd St. S.W., Portage la Prairie, MB with The Venerable Norman Collier officiating. Interment is to follow at Hillside Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to St. Mary's la Prairie Organ Fund, 36 2nd St. S.W., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 2A2.
