CLAUDE BRUCE MAIN Dearly loved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Claude died peacefully at Beckley Farm Lodge, Victoria, BC, on March 10, 2005. Born in Winnipeg on January 29, 1914, the fifth child of David and Dolina Main, formerly of Inverness, Scotland. Claude became an active member of the Y , the Canoe Club, the Ski Club and early on, showed a talent for organizing fundraising and entertaining events. Through his work with the Kinsmen and Lions Clubs he was instrumental in building Lions Manor in Winnipeg. He was a founding member of the Red River Exhibition, served as President in 1958 and 1959 and was named Honorary Life Member in 1981. He was also a charter member and Past President of the SPEBSQSA, Winnipeg Chapter, and ably acted as their concert Master of Ceremonies. Claude first worked for Hudson Bay Wholesale in Manitoba and Saskatchewan where he met and married Lillian Bellefleur, June 30, 1941. He was with North Star Oil / Shell Canada for 25 years and retired in 1977 as Senior Public Affairs Representative for Western Canada. He and Lillian built a cottage at Moose Lake, MB, spent 13 winters in Mesa, AZ, and eventually settled in Victoria in 1986. Claude's quick wit and easy manner were always enjoyed at social gatherings and fondly remembered at work. Wherever his activities centered he made lifelong friends. Claude was predeceased by four siblings, Ian, Anne, Kathleen and Isobel and sadly, son Ross at age three. He is survived by Lillian his wife of 63 years, their children, Doug (Judy) of Edmonton, Margo (Peter Thomas) of Victoria, Jacquie of Pender Island; his grandchildren, Josh (Laurie), Jeremy and Tegan; great-grandson Cash and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Claude's life will be held on Saturday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m. at First Memorial Chapel, 4725 Falaise Dr., Saanich, BC.
