DIRSKE VAN LEEUWEN (nee VAN DONGEN) We sadly announce the passing of our much loved wife, mom, oma, and great-oma on Monday, March 21, 2005. Mom passed away peacefully with her family at her side. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, Teunis; and her children, Joanne (Justo), Bert (Alice), Anneke (Lawrence), Jacqueline, Jake (Greta), Willy (Darrell), Nelly (Art), Grace (Ed), Rick (Sonja), and Sarina (Randy). Mom was blessed with 29 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She also leaves to mourn three sisters and one brother in the Netherlands. Mom was predeceased by her grandson Owen and son-in-law Ed, as well as numerous other relatives. Mom was born in Holland on August 30, 1927. She met Dad at choir practice, and they married on April 13, 1949. In 1954, they immigrated to Canada with their three children, settling in Winnipeg. Seven more children were born to them and although raising them kept Mom busy, she still found time to pursue other interests. Mom did a lot of sewing and knitting, first for her children, and then her grandchildren. Later she had more time for reading, volunteering in the library at Calvin Christian School, visiting shut-ins and singing in the choir with Dad. Church was a big part of Mom's life her and Dad sacrificed a lot to send their children to a Christian School. Mom's life revolved around her family, of which she was very proud. We are thankful for the Christian values instilled in us, and we are comforted knowing that Mom is with God. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff on GA5 at Health Sciences Centre for treating Mom with respect and dignity. We would also like to thank our friends and family for their prayers and support. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 26 at 1:00 p.m. at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Ave. with Rev. D. Donovan officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for A.R.C.I.A - Senior Citizens Home, in care of Providence Reformed Church, 2615 Henderson Hwy., East St. Paul, MB R2E 0C4. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. #1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241
