BERT BALIANT Peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2005 surrounded by family, Bert Baliant passed away. Bert was born and raised in Meleb, MB. He proudly served in the Second World War. Later he married and raised his family in Winnipeg while maintaining a cattle operation and working on the railroad. He spent his later years residing in Gimli, often visiting his family in Winnipeg and Denver. Bert was predeceased by his wife Elsie; his brothers, Albin and John; his sister Mary and his nephew John. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Ramona (Gallos) and Laura (Heggem); his son Frank and his sons-in-law Ed and Dan. He will forever be cherished by his five grandchildren, Marcia (Stacey), Jessica (Russell), Adam (Meaghan), Erik and Natalie. Also left to remember Bert are his sisters, Ann and Jean; brothers-in-law, Ed and John and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 24 at 10:00 a.m. at the Glen Eden Funeral Home; 4477 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bert's favourite charity, The Salvation Army, 55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8.
