Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAPHNE PATRICIA STREILEIN (GIEREK) (nee SELLINGS) It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, wife, grandmother, aunt, sister and dear friend on Monday, March 21, 2005 at the age of 69 years. Daphne was born in Carmen, MB on May 10, 1935. At the age of six months she travelled to Europe with her parents and spent the war years in England and Wales; returning to Canada in 1944 where she remained until her passing. She touched so very many lives in her too short time on this earth. Daphne was an avid and dedicated volunteer for many years as a cub scout, beaver and girl guide leader and a tireless helper at Lord Roberts Community Club and Rosedale United Church. In 2000 when diabetes took her sight and poor health tried to slow her down she was undeterred and became a member of the Board of Directors for the Manitoba Deaf-Blind Association . Daphne was predeceased by her mother Eileen and her sisters, Barbara, Karen and Terry. She derived great joy in cooking for her family and friends and shared in their joys and sorrows with kindness and wisdom. Daphne leaves to mourn her husband Sam Streilein; children, Lynn Angus (Ken); Stephen Giererk of Toronto; David Gierek (Gail); Juliana Daske (Felix) in Squamish; Maureen Urbanovich (Richard); Michael Gierek; Erin Gierek as well as their father Roman Gierek; eight grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Margaret, Susan, Jane, Kathryn, Sheila; brothers, Donald, David and Robert; nieces and nephews; Aunt Iola and Wilma and Uncle Harvey from Graysville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30 at 10:30 a.m., Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Interment to follow in Graysville Cemetery in Graysville, MB at 2:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg R3C 0S6 Winnipeg. The family wish to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Blouw and the caring staff at the Victoria General Hospital for their care and support. Most of all the other beautiful things in life come by twos and threes, by dozens and hundreds. Plenty of roses, stars, sunsets, rainbows, brothers and sisters, aunts and cousins; but only one Mother in the whole world. Love you mom THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 783-7211
