EVELYN (LAVENDER) EYOLFSON

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN (LAVENDER) EYOLFSON passed away peacefully on March 25, 2005 at the Hunter Hospital in Teulon, MB. Mom was born July 27, 1911. She was the second oldest of the 11 children born to Fred and Emma King. She attended school in Winnipeg and started a long teaching career at one-room schools in Manitoba: Sprague, Markland, Vestfold, Hythe, Sandridge, McFarlane, Monar and retired in 1973 from Inwood School. In 1936 she married Andrew Lavender and they settled in Inwood and took an active part in the community. She was a member of the W.I. for 70 years and belonged to the curling club, hall board, Lutheran Church and the Over 50 Club as well. Her home was always open to high school students needing a place to board in Inwood. It was overflowing with many relatives for every holiday. She always was there to help anyone with a problem of any kind. In 1974 she married Allan Eyolfson and they spent 22 happy years together. They did much travelling through North America and Europe. In her spare time Mom made many beautiful quilts which were given to family members. She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She was predeceased by her first husband Andrew Lavender and her son Jim in 1972; her second husband Allan Eyolfson in 1996; her son-in-law Brian Florence in 1993; her sister Mary; and her brothers, Fred and George. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Marion Strick (Albert) and Dianne Florence (friend Brad); grandchildren, Gordon (Judy) Strick - Mike, Steve and Niki; Les (Barb) Strick; Howard (Roseanne) Strick - Nadine, Robert and Brooklyn; Barb (Clint) Eskilson - Troy and Kirk; Doreen (Jerry) Demianiw - Kevin (Jill) and Whitney, Ryan and fiancee Keri; Gary Florence - Alicia; Brenda (Frank) Becker - Russell and Daniel; Jamie Florence and friend Keltie. Brothers, Harry King and Lawrence (Jean) King; sisters, Ruth Reynolds, Emma MacTavish, Helen Bryenton (Keith), Audrey Greenham, Dorothy (Les) Law; brother-in-law Lawrence Eyolfson (Lillian); sisters-in-law, Herdis Maddin and Doris King; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 29 at 2:30 p.m. in the Inwood Hall. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made to either Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Inwood, MB or Hunter Memorial Hospital, Teulon, MB. MacKenzie Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
