ELIN (DIDDY) ARNASON
Born: Oct 06, 1923
Date of Passing: Mar 26, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIN (DIDDY) ARNASON Peacefully surrounded by the love of her family, our precious wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on March 26, 2005. Sadly missed and remembered by her husband Joey after 59 years of marriage. She was predeceased by her parents, Ellis and Gavrose Anderson and infant grandson Jay. Diddy was born October 6, 1923. In 1945, after waiting faithfully for three years for Joey to return from the Second World War, she married the love of her life. They soon welcomed their three boys and two daughters, Brian (Dorothy), Robert (Ruth), Ken (Judy), Debbie (Nick), Susan (Larry) into their hearts and their lives. We were truly blessed with the most devoted wife and mother, whose nurturing and caring knew no boundaries. She welcomed her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law into her life as her own. Over the next few years, Diddy delighted in the arrival of her beloved grandchildren, Sharon (Stewart), Donna (Curtis), Raegan, Carmen, Jenna, Erik, Brett, Ashton, Luke and Mackenzie and great-grandchildren, Ryan, Lewis and Rachael. She is also survived by her brother Lorne (Doris) and many nieces, nephews, dear family members and friends. Diddy was a proud and devoted member of the Gimli Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Branch 182. She was both a charter and life member of the Auxiliary. Mom was a very gentle person with simple wants and needs, always putting the family before herself. Her home was always open, and Diddy will be remembered for her coffee and dainties. We have all felt the warmth and depth of her unconditional love, and we give thanks for her life. Everything in this world that is decent, honest and true reminds us of her and the blessing she was in our lives. Our family would like to express our thanks to the hospital staff of the Gimli Community Health Centre and to the home care workers for all of their care. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gimli Lutheran Church. A private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Lake Garden Project, Betel Home Foundation, Box 10, Gimli, MB. Her Journey's Just Begun Don't think of her as gone away, Her journeys just begun. Life holds so many facets, This earth is only one. Just think of her as resting From the sorrow and the tears In a place of warmth and comfort Where there are no days of years. Think how she must be wishing That we could know today, How nothing but our sadness Can really pass away. And think of her as living In the hearts of those she touched. For nothing loved is ever lost And she was loved so much. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
