THOMAS ALEXANDER SCHURKO peacefully with great sadness, with his family around him, passed away on Saturday, March 26 at Fred Douglas Lodge, Winnipeg. Thomas was born November 5, 1906 at Winnipeg Beach. Thomas was raised in Zbaraz, MB where he farmed. He met and married Catherine Wladyka on June 5, 1932. They were married for 72 years. They had two children, Olga and Thomas (Orval). Their two children gave them nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, all who were the love of his heart. Dad loved to hunt and fish. Dad and mother moved to Winnipeg in 1946 where dad became a carpenter. Dad loved to putter in his garden, play cards and listen to Ukrainian music with mother. Thomas is survived by his wife Catherine, son Thomas (Eva), his brother Marvin (Joyce), son-in-law Sam. Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Helen; brothers, John, Sam, Charlie, Frank; sister Helen; daughter Olga; great-granddaughter Ashley; and grandson-in-law Renee. The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff of Fred Douglas Lodge for their loving care of dad (dido). Prayers and visitation will be offered at Glen Eden Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 29 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will follow on Wednesday, March 30 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
