Elsie leaves to mourn her loving husband of 51 years, George; her sons, Randy (Sandra) of Matlock, Toni (Edith) of Selkirk and Pat of Wabowden; and daughter Linda Hause (Mel) of Smithers, BC; her granddaughters, Brandy Hause of Smithers, Candice Cronin of Olds, AB, and Kim Cronin of Selkirk. She will be sadly missed by her sister Diane Mitchell (Bob) of Selkirk; brother Leslie Kirkness (Donna) of OK Falls, BC; brother-in-law Jack Cronin (Trudy) of Mission, BC; sisters-in-law, Marjorie McGuire of Toronto, ON, Lil Michon (Gerry) of Brampton, ON, Doris Kirkness of Mission, Diane Kirkness of Dowling, ON; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and friends. Elsie was predeceased by her parents William and Carrie Kirkness; brothers, Bobby and Frank; father and mother-in-law George and Edna Cronin; and brother-in-law Brian Cronin. Elsie was born in Selkirk on March 30, 1934. She was raised in Maggietown and attended school in Clandeboye. On August 22, 1953, she married George and they resided briefly in Winnipeg and Petersfield before settling in Clandeboye when George established Clandeboye Garage in 1954. Together they raised their four children. In 1977 Elsie started her nursing career as an LPN at Johnnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli, retiring after 20 years in 1997. She looked forward to curling, gardening, camping, trips to British Columbia, reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed the company of her dogs, Susie, Cuddles and Bailey. Elsie's strong sense of right and wrong will always be remembered by all who knew her. She loved a good laugh, a cold beer and happy times with family and friends. She's been known to dance a jig or two! In keeping with Elsie's wishes a private family service will be held at the Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Society or a charity of your choice. Her family would like to express our sincerest thanks to the Selkirk District General Hospital staff, Dr. H. Demsas, Selkirk Ambulance Service, Theresa Hnatiuk, homecare staff, especially Margaret, Shelley, Val and Doreen, Gilbart Funeral Home staff and our numerous friends for their comfort and support. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.

So much of who we are comes from those who have touched us, other lives we have shared; when we mourn a loss, we also celebrate all the ways that another's life is reflected in our own. God is with you George. - Posted by: Ken Sheedy (Friend) on: Apr 08, 2005
