GEORGE PATENAUDE May 11, 1921 - March 26, 2005 After a brief illness at the St. Pierre DeSalaberry and District Health Centre, it is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of George Patenaude of St. Malo, MB, at the age of 83 years. Dad leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved children, Harvey (Gwen), Edith (Ben), Guy (Paulette), Louise (Gilbert), Gilles (Tammy), Monique, Pauline (Noel), Gerard, Richard (Edna), Micheline (Peter) and Michel (Delores). He also leaves 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, his brothers, Eugene (Jeanne) and Philbert (Jeanne); his brother-in-law Roger Trudel; and sisters-in-law, Anita Carriere and Cecile Patenaude. Dad was predeceased by his wife Marguerite (nee Dubois), his two grandsons, David and Christopher Dubois; his parents, Joseph and Rose-Alba; his sisters, Antoinette Nault and Leona Trudel; his stepsister Josephine Lambert; his stepbrother Edouard Carriere; and his brother Alex Patenaude. Dad was raised in Piney, MB. After a courtship which saw him ride his bike from Piney to St. Malo where he would rendezvous with his beloved wife-to-be, Marguerite, they married and moved to St. Malo where they resided and raised their 11 children. During our childhood, Dad would take us on weekly family outings to Piney to show us where he grew up. His memories of Piney and the cherished outings were legendary. Thanks for the memories, Dad. Dad resided at the Chalet Malouin Personal Care Home in St. Malo for the last 20 years of his life. Before that, he enjoyed many years at his hobby farm on the outskirts of St. Malo. He had a variety of animals that were treated with great respect and were enjoyed by both the children and the grandchildren. His love for animals was immense and this continued until the end of his time here on earth. Dad will also be fondly remembered for his numerous birthdays during the month of May, for his free birthday drink at the St. Malo Hotel, and for his rendition of Alleluhia, I'm a Bum which he enjoyed singing with his family. Dad was a carpenter and he also enjoyed his many years of service at the St. Malo Provincial Park until his retirement at the age of 62. He will be missed. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the DeSalaberry Hospital for their care and support during this difficult time. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Joseph Choiselat at the St. Malo Roman Catholic Church in St. Malo, MB, on Wednesday, March 30 at 2:30 p.m. Prayer service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Interment of George's cremated remains will take place in the St. Malo parish cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association (Manitoba Division), 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6. May his spirit be with God and with all family members who have passed on. We love you and you will be missed. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220
