THELMA LOUISE LILLIES (nee MARTINSON) Peacefully, on Monday, March 28, 2005, Thelma Lillies passed away at the Seven Oaks General Hospital at the age of 77 years, with her family at her side. She was predeceased by her husband John and son Grant. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by sons, Ralph, Bradley (Melody), Lorne (Sheri); and daughters, Marlene (Gordon) Klowak and Bernice; her grandchildren, Grant Jr., Angela (Martin) Kallio, Derek (Lauren) Klowak, Lindsey (Danny) Heywood, Chad, Justin, Rodney, Kyle and Kristopher. She also leaves her great-grandchildren, Emma, Jussi, Jorje, and Sierra. Thelma was born June 1, 1927 in Little Grassy River, ON. She was the youngest of nine children born to Ole and Alma Martinson. She settled in Winnipeg, met and married John Lillies, and together they had six children. Thelma worked in the food service industry for many years, eventually operating her own cafeteria at Phillips Temro Industries until her retirement in 1993. She lived for her children, always doing the best she could with what she had. She loved to cook and had that special touch - her shortbread cookies could never be equalled. As she watches over us, we know a mother's love is something special, never to be forgotten. We love you, Mom. Our family wishes to thank the 5th floor nursing staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and compassion shown to Mom and the family during her stay. In accordance with Thelma's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
