ROXANNE CHARTIER April 15, 1984 - March 29, 2005 Peacefully in the loving arms of her mother and surrounded by her family, Roxanne passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2005. With her radiant smile, Roxanne embraced life and its challenges head on. She was athletic, energetic, feisty, fun-loving and a great ball player. Her face always spoke a thousand words, with an expression for every emotion. She was a prankster but, at the same time, a loving friend who was always ready to lend a helping hand. Her love of clothing, jewellery and especially hair colour were her trademarks. She was so trendy that no one ever knew what Roxanne would be wearing or what hue of hair colour to expect to see her wearing. Roxanne adored children! Because of her nurturing and warm-hearted nature, she babysat from the age of 12 to 18 and was known as the queen of babysitters. Children and animals always had a way of making her heart melt. From her first Christmas wish list, all she wanted was a real dog. At the age of 19, her wish was finally granted and she named her pug dog Gilbert. From the day Roxanne was born, she worshipped the ground her pepere St-Hilaire walked on. Many hours were spent on the farm enjoying life's blessings in each other's company. At the time of her passing, Roxanne was employed at the St. Boniface Research Centre. She will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Noel and Edith; sister Chantal; grandparents, George and Rita St-Hilaire; grandmother Isabelle Chartier; the St-Hilaire family; aunt Elaine (Don); uncles, Gerald (Marj), Michel (Christine), Luc (Shawna), Bernard and Normand (Brenda); the Chartier family; aunt Marie (Clive); uncles, Guy (Doris), Robert (Sandra), Philippe (Brigitte), Daniel (Natalia); and numerous cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her grandfather Leonard Chartier, uncle Luc Chartier and cousin Paul Gratton. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 2 at 10:00 a.m., Precieux-Sang Church, 200 Kenny St. with Fr. Isaie Blanchette officiating. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date. The family wishes to extend special thanks to all the compassionate caregivers at the St. Boniface General Hospital Emergency and the Grace Hospital ICU and gratefully acknowledge all who have supported them in their time of need. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roxanne's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J COUTU CO.
