Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLARENCE O. (CLANCY) SVEINSON Peacefully, on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, Clarence Clancy Sveinson passed away at Victoria General Hospital at the age of 73 years. Clancy was born June 8, 1931 in Keewatin, ON, the son of Carl and Janet Sveinson. He was educated in Keewatin and worked briefly at the Lake of the Woods Milling Company and for the Town of Keewatin before moving to Winnipeg in 1954 to begin a lengthy career as a construction supervisor in the petroleum industry. In 1955, Clancy married the love of his life, Theresa (Terry) Hill, and together they became the proud parents of two wonderful children, Pam (Brad) and Jeff (Darlene) and grandparents to Taylor and McClay. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret (Len) Hamill of Kenora and brother, John (Jessie), of Edmonton and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to being a devoted husband, father and friend, Clancy was a passionate sports fan with a particular love for hockey and golf. He was a committed volunteer and a longtime supporter of Winnipeg's minor hockey community, having been active for many years as a referee and as a member of the Winnipeg Minor Hockey Association executive, where he served as president from 1971 to 1974. In recognition of his service to minor hockey in Winnipeg, he was installed as an Honorary Life Member of the WMHA Executive. Clancy was also a longtime member of the Winnipeg Canoe Club, where he enjoyed many years of golf and camaraderie and served in numerous volunteer capacities including the position of Commodore. He was a participant and volunteer organizer at the Golden Falcon Golf Tournament for more than two decades and served as chairman of the Golden Falcon Golf Association. In recent years, Clancy and Terry were active members of the Niakwa Country Club. Family and friends will remember Clancy for his mischievous sense of humour, his uniquely fastidious sense of style, his love of good times with family and friends, family camping trips to Blue Lake and beyond, winter getaways with Terry to Palm Springs, and his enduring affection for Chicago's sports teams, particularly the Black Hawks and the Bears. Clancy will be sadly missed at the family's always-boisterous gatherings for holidays and special occasions, on the teeboxes and fairways of Niakwa and at his special Wednesday meetings with the boys at the Norwood. The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Sharkey for his diligent support and the staff at Victoria General Hospital for their efforts during the past several weeks. A celebration of Clancy's life will be held on Monday, April 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Niakwa Country Club, 620 Niakwa Rd. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU CO.
