ELSA ROSE (nee GRULKEY) Elsa was called to her rest Tuesday, March 29, 2005 after 85 years. Left to miss her are sons, Wayne and Murray; beloved daughter-in-law May; and grandson Stephen. Born in Chatfield, MB, in 1920, she was the youngest of six children born to German immigrants. All of her siblings and both parents predeceased her. The family moved to Winnipeg when she was five years old. Elsa grew up in the Logan area attending Pinkham and Daniel MacIntrye schools before going to work. The family struggled during the Depression but Elsie retained fond memories of her neighbourhood, school, and in particular of the support and help of her mother, sisters, Wanda and Ida and brother Harry. Following the War she met and married Victor Rose, a marriage that stood the tests of 47 years until Vic's death in 1997. During her marriage Elsa committed herself to raising her sons. They will be comforted with memories of her care and the stories of her own growing up. She enjoyed exploring her artistic side, her pets and her home and garden. Reading was a passion shared with and transmitted to her boys. The trips south each winter with Vic were a highlight of her year. In later years she continued to enjoy her reading, garden, yard, and curling on TV. She looked forward to Sundays with the family including Stephen and the grand-pets Chloe and Dixie. Special times were with May whose attentions were so welcome. Special thanks to Murray without whose care and attention she could not have enjoyed her home life. Elsa's life was long, her decline mercifully short. The family thanks the caregivers of St. Boniface Hospital for their attention and kindness in her final weeks. Cremation has occurred and the family will enter the remains with Victor privately in St. Vital Cemetery, 236 River Rd. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. #1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241
