FLORENCE ELLEN SIMPSON (nee KNIGHT) February 15, 1904 - March 29, 2005 After a long journey in life and just recently celebrating her 101st birthday Florence passed away peacefully at The Middlechurch Home with her son Douglas at her side. Florence was born in Middlesex, England and was one of 11 siblings. She later immigrated to Canada in 1912. While growing up in Shoal Lake, MB, she met her husband Arthur Simpson and together they enjoyed 57 wonderful years. In 1932, with their only son Douglas, they moved to Winnipeg and settled in the Sturgeon Creek area. Florence worked for Eaton's for many years and was a great homemaker. In their retirement years, Florence and Arthur moved to Penticton, BC and Calgary, AB and later returned to Winnipeg to be near their family. Florence was predeceased by her loving husband Arthur (1983) and beloved granddaughter Debra (2000). She is survived by her son Douglas (Marie); and her three grandchildren, Gary (Adrienne), Catherine (Russell) and Blair. Florence also leaves behind six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, Kristin (Darcy), Rebecca, Melissa, Nicholas, Gary, Sean and McKenna. She also leaves her brother Ted (96) of England and her brother Stan (92) of Ontario. The family wishes to thank the staff at The Middlechurch Home for their compassionate care of Florence while she was a resident. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at a later date in Shoal Lake, MB. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. If friends so desire, memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
