ANNIE H. FRANZ (nee GOTTFRIED) Peacefully, at the Gimli Community Health Centre on Thursday, March 31, 2005, on a bright and beautiful day, mom went to be with her Lord in her 96th year. Mom was born on July 1, 1909 in Meleb, MB, the daughter of Michael and Rosalia Gottfried. She married dad (Charlie Franz) on November 5, 1925 and settled on a farm in Berlo. In 1951, they moved to Camp Morton and mom became a cook for Archbishop Sinnot. Annie was predeceased by her husband (Carl) Charlie in 1992, an infant daughter Mary, sons-in-law Adam Reichert and recently, on February 19, 2005, Bill Omiucke; her parents; sisters and brothers, Elizabeth Schreyer (Beausejour, MB), Mary Pfeifer (Ladywood, MB), Vera Sales (England), John Gottfried (Winnipeg), Katherine Marks (Camp Morton), Eva Marks (Camp Morton), Louise Schnerch (Balmertown, ON) and Mike Gottfried (Arnes, MB). Mom leaves to mourn with gratitude for the life she lived, determined, independent, positive and with a bright mind, her daughters, Florence Reichert, Elsie Omiucke and Norma (Paul) Horban; sons, Art (Bernice) Franz and Jim (Jean) Franz; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Rostek, Margaret Gottfried and Lena Kunz, (all of Winnipeg); brothers, Adam Gottfried (Toronto) and Joseph Gottfried (Rene) (Barrie, ON); numerous nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. Mom was a talented lady who loved to crochet and knit. She never tired playing cards (especially Kutz and Rumoli) and took great pride in her garden. Prayer was so important to mom, in lieu of flowers, please say a prayer for her, or if you wish the Rosary. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 5 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Gimli with Fr. Art Seaman officiating. A viewing will be held one half hour prior to Mass. Interment to follow in the St. Benedict's Cemetery, Camp Morton, MB. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and her sisters will be her honorary pallbearers. The family would like to thank Fr. Art, Sister Cathy and Deacon Ray for your many visits and Holy Communion for mom. This meant so much to her. Also thanks to the nurses at the Gimli Betel and Gimli Hospital for your kindness and compassion shown, and to Dr. R.C. Patel, whom mom had extreme faith in, and he pulled her through many difficult times. Each life is a miracle that changes the world and leaves it a better place than it was before. Goodbye Goodbye my family, my life has passed. I loved you all to the very last. Weep not for me, but courage take, Love each other, for my sake. For those you love don't go away, They walk beside you everyday. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
