Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJON KRISTINN BJORGVIN JONSSON Peacefully on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, with family at his side, Jon Kristinn Bjorgvin Jonsson, aged 96, of Arborg, MB, passed away at the Arborg and District Health Centre. He will be missed by his wife Edith of 57 years; his nine children and his many grandchildren, Doreen Johnson (George), children, Theresa, John and Kalvin; Gary Jonsson (Judy), children, Carrie, Amanda (Ryan), Cindy (Ian), Kayla; Ingrid Fjeldsted (Brian), children, Scot (Denise), Marie (Les), Shaun (Trish), Stefan; Colleen Hyde, children, Chris, Drew; Judy Orbanski (Donny), children, Vanessa (Rick), Adam, Robin (Natalie), Desmond and Katherine; Cheryl Bater (Dwayne), children, Sara-Lynn, Jason, Brittni; Glen Jonsson (Valerie), children, Cassandra, Johnathon, Ryan, Eric and Stephan; Clint Jonsson (Cori); Wendy Friesen (David), children, Nathan, Matthew and Allison. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Quin, Tamara, Cole, Carter, Aiden and Tanner; his half-sister Bjorg; and brother Siggi. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Marcel; sister Kristrun; and son-in-law Don Hyde. Jon was born on March 18 1909, in Arborg. In his early years he did ice fishing, freighting, trapping, carpentry and electrical work before he started farming in Geysir. During the Second World War he was called to serve in the Engineering Corps of the Canadian Reserve Army, where he served two years of duty. In 1947 he married Edith Bischoff, and they farmed at RL50, where they raised their nine children. He resided at the farm until his passing. During his years he enjoyed deer and duck hunting, curling and bowling. He had a great memory of past events that he related to his children and grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, April 4 at 1:00 p.m. in the Geysir Community Hall. Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jon's memory to Geysir Cemetery, care of Glen Sigvaldason, Box, 796 Arborg, MB R0C 0A0, or Geysir Community Hall, care of Corrine Gill, Box 4231, Arborg, MB R0C 0A0.
