Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMANLEY EDWARD (SAM) LEACH With his wife holding him and surrounded by his family, Sam set out on his journey home at 8:30 a.m. on March 30, 2005 after a short, courageous and valiant fight with cancer. He will lovingly be remembered by wife Evelen, son Curtis from Vancouver, B.C., son Blake (Janice) from Winnipeg and his much adored granddaughter Madison, sister Patricia Thomas (Pembroke, Ont.), brothers-in-law: Glen Spurway (Sheila Dawson) Sault Ste. Marie Ontario, Orval Spurway (Gwen Hall) Desbarats, Ontario; sister-in-law Geraldine (John) Torrance Sault Ste. Marie Ontario; his cousin Gerald Pixley (Ruby Davidson) Pembroke, Ontario, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents George Mary Leach, brother Earl and sister-in-law Joan Leach, father and mother-in-law John Viola Spurway and sister-in-law Bess Spurway. Sam was born in Pembroke, Ontario on September 11, 1932. He and Evelen were married August 30, 1963. Sam enjoyed the adventures of camping, fishing and traveling with his family. Sam worked 36 years for the Federal Government, and was transferred to various cities in Ontario. In 1971, he moved his family to Winnipeg and fell in love with the Prairies. When he retired, a house was built north of Beausejour, Manitoba; lovingly referred to as the Hacienda. Sam loved his country property, nature, wild birds and animals. During retirement, there were the yearly winter vacations with Evelen to the condo in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. He had a vibrant nature, was a true friend, and you would never forget him. Even after his stroke in September, 2001, and he no longer could speak, Sam never gave up trying. Amanda Botincan, you will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Sam's eyes lit up when he saw you. Thank you for all your visits and so much encouragement. Thanks to Ellie and Ed Stefaniuk, Jeannine and Marcel Pineau, Ginny and Terry Johnson, Eileen Gordon Herd for being there for us, and Jay for your special dinners that Sam loved. Thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at Beausejour, St Boniface and Deer Lodge hospitals after his stroke in 2001. Thanks to homecare in Beausejour: Myrtle, Dave, Gertie, Marie; and homecare in Winnipeg: Pascal, Kurth, Cheryl, Bev, Amparo, Elda, Wendy Ron. And recently, the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff on 5th floor Victoria Hospital and 4th 6th floor Health Sciences Centre. Special thanks to nurses: Jessica, Jocelyne, Cynthia, Elizabeth, Cheryl, Linda, Rochelle, Joyce Sally and doctors: Dr. Micflickier, Dr. H. Unruh, Dr. Jeyakumar, Dr. Cavers, Dr. Justin Wong and Dr. Gary Sandu. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 2:00 p.m., Sobering. Funeral Chapel,Park Avenue E., Beausejour, Manitoba with Rev. John Robertson officiating.
