Gerry was born on September 17, 1928, and raised in Matlock, MB. He moved to Winnipeg to complete high school and business college, and worked as an accountant/office manager at Acme Chrome for 45 years. Marrying Florence McFadyen in 1951, they raised four children in Weston where they lived for 40 years before retiring in Matlock. He was a vestry member of St. Thomas Weston and All Saints' Whytewold Anglican churches. Gerry loved the outdoors; camping, fishing, hunting and being with nature. An avid bird watcher, he enjoyed spending time in his own backyard. He loved old-time fiddling music, tapping his toes whenever there was music playing. A very kind, gentle and thoughtful man, Gerry gave to others with an ease and selflessness not often seen. His wonderful sense of humour and contagious laugh brought enjoyment to many family gatherings. He loved a good laugh, coming up with something funny when you least expected it. His presence could always be counted on. He will be missed. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Monday, April 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk, MB. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Z. Wiesenthal and all staff of Gimli Hospital who provided all the loving care and support to Gerald and his family. In lieu of flowers please make a charitable donation to an organization of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
