ROSE MARIE COMA (APOLONY)
Born: Jan 11, 1938
Date of Passing: Mar 30, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE MARIE COMA (nee APOLONY) With heavy hearts the family of Rose Marie Coma, of West Hawk Lake, announces her sudden passing on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB. Rose was born on January 11, 1938, in Winnipeg. She will be remembered with love by her children, Marilyn (Rod) Girouard, Diane (Andy) Hnatiuk, Angie Hughesman (sons, Adam and Matthew), Sylvia (Paul, daughters, Avery and Lily) Coma Bell, Perry (Lara, daughters, Mia and April) Coma. Also left to cherish Rose's memory are her brothers, Rudy (Pat) Apolony and Kurt (Veronica) Apolony. Rose was predeceased by her husband Steve; her mother and father, Frances and Hans; and her sister Frances Shandroski. Rose grew up in the area of East Braintree, MB, where she attended Glen School, and later went onto Lorrette Collegiate. In her earlier years, she was a waitress at the Stockyard Restaurant in Winnipeg, later working and living in Calgary for a short period, and then settling in West Hawk Lake. Rose met her husband, Steve Coma, while working at the Trans Canada Restaurant. During her life in West Hawk Lake, she also worked for the West Hawk Inn, Tall Pine Lodges and eventually retiring with the Department of Natural Resources. Mom worked very hard all her life but still found time to enjoy the company of her friends, whether it was playing cards, bingo at Ingolf, traveling on bus tours, Winfall Seniors, exercising at the community club, talking on the phone and visiting her neighbours. Becoming a member of the Red Hat Society Chapter No. 39091, where she was known as Lady Ann of West Hawk, also brought Mom a great source of pleasure in recent years. Mom loved celebrating holidays and birthday gatherings with her family. She always took extra care in decorating her home and finding the perfect outfit to reflect the occasion. She took great joy in planning activities for the enjoyment of her grandchildren. All the grandchildren enjoyed Cheezies and chocolate just before the meal. We are thankful for all the people who brought joy to Mom's life: Iris, Blanche, Eva, Edna, Shirley, Marlene, Lorraine, the Red Hat Ladies, the Winfall Seniors, her Bible study group and too many other good friends to mention. Thank you to her neighbour, Paul Reichert, for taking care of her home during this time. The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Kress and the staff at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital and the staff at the Health Sciences Centre. A celebration of Mom's life will be held on Monday, April 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the West Hawk United Church with a luncheon to follow at the Whiteshell Community Club. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations in memory of Mom be sent to the West Hawk United Church, Box 28, Falcon Lake, MB R0E 0N0. We love you.
