ALBERT SHELDON WENER Sadly on Monday, March, 28, 2005 at the Victoria General Hospital Albert Wener passed away at the age of 80 years. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Evelyn and their four children and their spouses: Jim and Mickey, Bob and Lynne, Gary and Hanna and Pam and Gary. Albert also leaves to mourn his adoring grandchildren, Nofar, Adi, Sarah, Taryn, Corey, Eleni, Daniel, Ira, Hart, as well as his sister Sylvia Rosenfield. He was predeceased by his mother and father Sam and Rose Wener and his sister Naomi Shaw. Albert was born December 25, 1924 and lived his entire life in Winnipeg. After graduating from university he practiced as an optometrist before entering the garment manufacturing business. Evelyn and Albert enjoyed 56 years of marriage which included many special activities and travels together. As a devoted husband and father, Albert treasured his time with his children and was very supportive and involved in all of their endeavours. Over the next 24 years, his life was further enriched with the birth of his 9 grandchildren with whom he spent his most pleasurable times. Some of our most treasured memories of Albert are of family dinners and the many summers at Tannis Lake. We all will remember the nonstop practical kibitzing, mostly at his expense, that brought endless laughter to our lives. After a successful business career he moved on to his second calling. He volunteered daily at The Winnipeg Harvest where he offered his services for over 15 years. At the Harvest he was known for his gentle quiet wisdom and compassion towards others. Albert was known for his modest ways and his uncanny ability to make friends with people from all walks of life. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Jack Lezack as well as the staff at the Victoria General Hospital for their excellent care. Funeral service were held on Wednesday, March 30, 2005. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Winnipeg Harvest, The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
