GLADYS BERNICE JACOBS (nee WICKETT) After a lengthy illness Gladys Jacobs beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 two days before her 90th birthday at Oakview Place. Gladys was predeceased by her loving husband Ivan on August 26, 2004 and her sister Evelyn in 1942. Gladys will be lovingly remembered by her children, Ken (Julie), Don (Gerry) and Bev (Tom) Paulley; grandchildren, Krista (Ricky) Zimmermann, Joanne (Sean) Darams, Steve (Kim), Brent (Linda), Paul (Teresa), Jody Hooper and Melissa Milbrandt; great-grandchildren, Jesse, Shandi, Alyssa, Kurt, Joshua, Alexander, Anna, Megan, Kayla and Matthew. Gladys was born on April 1, 1915 in Hamilton, ON and moved to Winnipeg with her parents shortly thereafter. As a young adult she worked as a hairdresser in Yorkton, SK and in Winnipeg where she met and married Ivan on Christmas Eve 1942. Mom devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed her many interests which included crocheting, knitting, baking and sewing. Playing the piano and tole and craft painting were among her favourite pastimes. In 1971 Gladys and Ivan moved to Pinawa where they enjoyed country living, moving on to Beausejour in 1981 where she actively participated in Jody and Melissa's formative years. Mom and Dad moved back to Winnipeg in 1997 to be closer to family. The family wishes to thank the staff at Oakview Place for their excellent and compassionate care of Gladys. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St. R3C 4G2 or to a charity of your choice.
