She is survived by her children, Dorothy Boila, Elizabeth Jones, Rita Lean (Steve), Ken Lean (Donna), Shirley Rosche (Jim), Arvo Lean (Wendy) and Cindy Pasternak (Wally). She also leaves her cherished 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; her youngest sister Nell Clark (Doug); her sister-in-law Aili Lean and Jean Podolchuk; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John Lean; grandson Randy Jones; great-granddaughter Amanda Jones; sons-in-law, Nick Boila and Phillip Jones; sisters, Anne Wishnowski, Kay Taunch, Mary Proceviat, Pearl Podolchuk and Lena Immonen; brothers, Mike, Nick, Steve, John, Peter and Paul. Pauline was born in 1914 in Elma, MB, daughter of the late John and Mary Podolchuk. She moved to Winnipeg at a young age. She worked as a domestic, a waitress and caterer in Winnipeg and various places in the west until she married. The family lived in Truro, NS and Mont Joli, QC for two years during the war, returning to live in Elma for several years. She returned to live in Winnipeg, working at various jobs, until retiring due to ill health. Pauline was a very strong, independent, dignified and loving woman. Do not stand by my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain... We love you Mom and Granny, and will miss you forever. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family Nursing Home, 165 Aberdeen Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2W 1T9. Our family is extremely grateful for the compassionate care of our mother by the wonderful staff at Holy Family over the years. A memorial service will be held at KNYSH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1020 Main St. on Tuesday, April 5 at 7:00 p.m. KNYSH FUNERAL CHAPEL 582-0973
