WALTER MILNE GEDDES Peacefully, on March 30, 2005, Walter Geddes passed away at the Victoria Hospital. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Rob Morrow) and Bev (Jim Edmond), and by their mother, Joan; grandchildren, Liam, Matthew, Colin, Katie and Luke. He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Alec, Bert and Jack. Walter was born in Winnipeg on April 13, 1925. He grew up in Fort Garry and lived most of his adult life there after being demobilized from the Signal Corps at the end of the Second World War. In 1953, he built his house in the area, raised a family and finally retired, until he became ill at Christmas this past year. He was very proud of the home he built and was thrilled that his grandchildren loved to come over to Grandpa's Hockey House. Walter's other homes included the cottage at Victoria Beach and his beloved hunting lodge at Tin Town up in the Delta Marsh. Walter spent many happy hours at Tin Town hunting ducks and geese with his father and brothers in his early years and with his friends in later years. He was so happy to introduce one of his oldest grandchildren into the hunting life just this past fall. It meant so much to him to pass down this tradition and way of life. Walter enjoyed the very active social life of the Tin Town community and the support shown by his Tin Town friends throughout his illness was appreciated by Walter as well as the rest of his family. Walter loved the outdoors. He was very interested in and concerned about the ecology and biodiversity of the wetlands, specifically the Delta Marsh area. He took several botany field courses through the University of Manitoba and enjoyed educating his family and friends on different aspects of the area that interested him. As a retired instructor from Red River Community College where he taught applied math and science, Walter enjoyed curling and golfing when his grandchildren's schedules permitted. His grandchildren were the apples of his eye. He was most happy playing, fishing, flying kites and carrying on with his kids and his dog , Skilo. They will all miss their dear grandpa so much. The funeral service will be held at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. on Wednesday, April 6 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Ducks Unlimited, Manitoba Wildlife Federation or a charity of your choice. We miss you, Dad. See you later Hugs and Kisses The Troops THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 McGillivray Blvd. - 925-1120
