Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN CAPEK September 8, 1920 - April 2, 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Capek at the age of 84. Left to cherish his memory are brothers, Bill (Peggy) and Don (Grace); sister Sonia (Charlie) Synchyshyn; sisters-in-law, Anita, Irene, and Jessie Capek; stepchildren, Elsie (Bill) Wright, Ed (Linda) Kohut, Robert (Marge) Kohut, Kathy (Randy) Arduini; grandchildren, Tannis, Jeffrey (Annette), Alanna Kohut, Crystal, Candace, Nicole Kohut, Jane and Nick Arduini; one great-grandchild Benjamin; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. John was predeceased by his parents, John and Anastasia; wife Lily; brothers, Andrew, Victor and Philip; sister Elsie; stepdaughter Sylvia Macenko. John was born at Elk Ranch, MB. In his early years he worked for Manitoba Hydro then returned home to run the family farm. In 1973 he moved to Winnipeg and worked at Gen Star until he retired. While living in Winnipeg he met and married Lily in 1981. John and Lily enjoyed socializing as a couple, gardening in Rosa, MB, and especially spending time with their families. John will be lovingly remembered as a quiet, honest and gentle man. Our world will be a sadder place without him. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 10:30 a.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 1175 Main St., with Very Rev. Henry Lakusta officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
