MARIA MAZZA It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, grandmother and sister, Maria Mazza on a glorious sunny day, Sunday, April 3, 2005. Maria passed away peacefully at her residence with her sister Giuseppina by her side, as the two were inseparable companions. Maria lived her adult life continuously surrounded by her precious children, as they all lived within a stone's throw of her. She is survived by son Gino and wife Jenny, her dear daughter Noreen and husband Joe, son Tony and wife Philis and son Mick and wife Stella. She took immense pleasure being involved in the lives of her loved grandchildren, Charlie and Lisa, Gino Jr., Frank, Angie, Maria, Marie, Felicia, Katrina, Tony and Giovanna; as well as great-grandchildren, Marco, Serena and Paolo. She will be sadly missed by her brother Antonio Rossi and wife Assunta, with nephew Mick and Laura Rossi and niece Rina and Mike D'ottovio, along with great-nieces and great-nephews, Susanna, Sabrina, Tony and Lissandra Maria; as well as many cousins, all of Winnipeg. Many relatives in her hometown will grieve her loss including, Benito and Caterina, Lugina and Dante, Frank and Assunta and Tommasina and Giuseppe. Maria was born in a small village of Amato, Italy in 1928. She would have turned 77 on April 11. She married her love Pasquale Mazza in 1949 and 15 years later bravely embarked in a new life for their family by moving to Winnipeg. Maria was faced with heartbreak when she lost Pasquale in 1975 at the young age of 46 and was forced to single handedly raise her four children. Her commitment and devotion to the lives of her children were her priority and she relentlessly fought many barriers in support of their happiness. She will forever be remembered for her devotion to her family. Maria lost her father Domenico in 1975 and after losing her mother Caterina in 1986, once again she would dedicate herself to assure a contented life for her sister Giuseppina. The two made the decision to live together and for the next 20+ years they became undividable and supported each other in every facet. Prayers for Maria will be said Tuesday evening, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church with Msgr. Norman Chartrand presiding. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Charlie, Gino Jr., Frank, Tony; and nephews, Mick and Mike Honorary pallbearers are Raffaele Torchia, Jack Mushinski, Robert Boni, Frank Rossi and Tom Rossi Entombment will follow at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. We will forever remember your love Mom and Nonna, and we hold you tight in our hearts. Riposa e Pace
