JOHN WINTER It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Winter announces his sudden passing on April 3, 2005. John will be greatly missed by his sister Margaret Preece, his niece Laura Ell (Glen), nephew David Preece (Corrie) Joel and Jenny, nephew John Preece (Diane) Shawna and Mandy. John was predeceased by his mother Hilda Winter, father William Winter and brother-in-law Norman Preece. John was born in Winnipeg on March 6, 1938. He worked as a self-employed picture framer in his funny old work shop with his favourite classical music playing and birds chirping at the always full bird feeders. An animal and nature lover, he enjoyed the company of many special dogs, cats and bird friends over the years. He took great pleasure in gardening, starting the carefully ordered seeds from the Spring seed catalogues. He was on his way out to the shop to pot his prized Apricot Begonia when his calling came. He would have liked it that way. He was a man of simple needs, and his life was spent helping others. A kind and gentle man and a friend to everyone he met, he will be greatly missed. A celebration of John's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 8 at Klassen Funeral Home, with Rev. Marc Whitehead officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, donations may be made to Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. Rest in peace, John, we love you. John will always be fondly remembered. Funny, witty, a lover of good music and nature, and always a good friend. We have wonderful memories of many summers at Grand Marais/Grand Beach with Johnny and friends-- swimming, gathering at the old Merry-Go-Round, listening to music or playing cards on a rainy afternoon, hiking in the early morning hours to watch the glorious sunrise. A gentle person, never to be forgotten. Our family will miss him as we do his parents. - Posted by: Elizabeth (Betty Chorley) Dante (Friend) on: Apr 08, 2005
