WALTER MANN August 5, 1924 to April 3, 2005 After a brief illness, Walter passed away at Fred Douglas Lodge on April 3, 2005 at the age of 80 years. He is survived by his three sons, David (Sandra), Alan (Anita) and Gerald; four grandchildren, Jason (Janelle), Marissa, Leanne and Cheryl; sisters-in-law, Milada, Dolly, Ida (Jack) Charlotte (Peter); and brother-in-law Richard (Phyllis). His wife Ruth; and siblings, Anne and Anthony predeceased him. Walter was born in Bruckenthal, Poland, immigrating to Canada in 1927. He lived many years in the Camp Morton area before moving to Winnipeg. He worked a variety of jobs but primarily as a millwright and machinist. Dad had a strong work ethic and was a perfectionist extraordinaire. He had the skill, ingenuity and determination to fix just about anything. The family would like to express their appreciation to the neighbours and friends who provided companionship and encouragement to our Dad over the last few years. Our sincere thanks and appreciation is also extended to the dedicated staff at Fred Douglas Lodge; Riverview Health Centre E3; and Seven Oaks Hospital who cared for him throughout his illness. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on April 8, at St Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Walter may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
