Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACOB H. JANZEN Jacob H. Janzen began celebrating life with his Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus Christ on April 6, 2005. With courage and dignity he accepted the gradual physical limitations of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). He continues to live on through the lives of his family, Elisabeth, his wife of 48 years; his children, Marlene and Paul Yogis, Violet and Daniel Herring, Marvin and Rhonda Janzen; his grandchildren, Jillian, Madison, Adam; Bradley, Michael, Steven, Andrew, Dakota, Kacey; Dylan, Kyle, and Sarah. Jacob was born in Crystal City, MB, December 30, 1931. He was the sixth child born of 12 brothers and sisters. He moved to Winnipeg at a young age and then to McCreary, Manitoba. He married Elisabeth Dueck on June 1, 1957. He graduated from psychiatric nursing school and worked at the Brandon Mental Hospital for 17 years. Later he changed careers and began a successful career in sales. He eventually followed his entrepreneurial spirit and pursued his dream of owning his own business. Music and singing were a major part of Jacob's life. He was the choir director in Brandon, he sang solos for many functions, and he started the orchestra for the Brandon Church Music Committee. He was in numerous singing competitions, winning the Rose Bowl in Brandon in 1958 and runner up for the Rose Bowl in Winnipeg in 1959. He also sang in the Schubert choir in Brandon, performing Gilbert and Sullivan acts. Jacob also had an immense fondness for traveling. Multiple vacations with his wife and children ranged from camping out in tents to Florida beaches and Disney World theme parks. Whatever part of the globe he took his family to he made sure the trip was joyful and he always talked about how the next trip would even be better. Though you are sorrowfully missed we know you've now taken the best trip of all and you're singing once again. In Thy presence is fullness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures evermore.
