ELSIE LENORE WINCHELL (RODGER) (nee WOOD) Elsie passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Charleswood Care Centre on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at the age of 94 years. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Ed (Heather) Rodger of Kelowna, BC; daughter Carol Cannon of Whiterock, BC; grandchildren, Colleen Davis, Lori Ann (Brian) Sandve and Craig (Pam) Cannon of Langley, BC, Alex (Carolyn) Rodger of Kenora, ON and Jennifer Rodger of Kelowna; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Eva Wilson. Elsie was predeceased by her first husband Alex Rodger; second husband Walter (Dick) Winchell; and brothers, Nelson and Cecile; and sister Violet. Elsie was born, married and raised her family in Winnipeg. For years she was a member of the Army, Navy and Air Force, Rockwood Unit No. 303 were until recently she was an active member in the seniors club participating and enjoying many of their activities. She also enjoyed spending time in her garden. There will be a celebration of Elsie's life which will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11 at the Army, Navy and Air Force Rockwood memorial room, 341 Wilton St. Elsie's family wishes to thank the nurses and care staff at the Charleswood Care Centre for their kindness and compassionate care, during the past two years.
