JANINA ZWIERCIADLOWSKI Janina (nee Korba) passed away peacefully in the early hours of Friday April 8, 2005 at Red River Valley Lodge, Morris, MB at the age of 85. She was born in Zdziehow near Radom, Poland, November 30, 1919. She married Franek Gaska (deceased) and had two children, Gertruda died in her infancy in 1941 and Czeslaw (Lorne) died in 2002. Janina was a survivor of the Siberian deportation camps. She met her second husband Edward Zwierciadlowski in 1945 in Colonia Santa Rosa, Mexico. Together with their good friend Lawrence Gaj, they farmed near Stonewall, Manitoba until they moved to Winnipeg in 1962. Being the youngest of eight children, Janina was the last surviving member of her birth family, Jan Korba (father), Ewa Sarna (mother) brother and sisters, Adam, Aniela Borowiec, Francziszka Olszak, Maria, Josefa, Helena and Bronislawa. Janina is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Rhymer (Ken) of Morris MB and Danuta Zwierciadlowski (Chris Coon) of Bowen Island BC. Grandchildren, Teresa Gaska Lang, Jeffery (Tanya) Gaska, Glen Gaska, Julianna Rhymer, Annabelle Coon. Great-grandchildren, Scott, Alexa and Evan. Niece and nephew Genowefa Kuzia (Waclaw) and John Borowiec (Tessie) and their families. Stepchildren Mary Kuta (John) and Stefan (Beverly) Gaska of Illinois and numerous relatives in Poland. Janina loved farm life and took great pride in her garden. She was a great cook and took pleasure in making sure her family was always well looked after. She was not afraid of hard work and tackled many projects that would have daunted others. Prayers will be said at Cropo Funeral Chapel on Monday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 255 Stafford St., on Tuesday, April 12 at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment at Holy Ghost Cemetery. The family sends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. M. Fraser and staff at Red River Valley Lodge where Jenny spent her final years.
