WINNIFRED FLORENCE FRASER (nee THOMSON) It is with extreme sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend Winnifred after a lengthy illness. With her loving husband Al, her daughter Heather, and son-in-Law Greg by her side, Mom left us on April 7, 2005 in her 71st year. Mom fought a courageous battle with determination and strength. Predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Edith; siblings, George, Mary, Jessie and Nellie; Mom leaves to mourn her husband and best friend of 48 years Al; children, David, Heather, Doug and Glenn and their families, daughter-in-law Marilyn and granddaughter Zoe Fraser, son-in-law Greg, granddaughter Jenna, grandsons, Jordan and Kevin Clancy, daughter-in-law Danielle, grandsons, Derek and Brett Fraser; sister Jean (Harry) Monk and sister Heather (Florien) Kalinowski. Winnie was born and raised in Winnipeg. She met the love her of life in 1953 and from that point forward, together they built a foundation of love. Mom enjoyed gardening, knitting, watching the birds in the backyard feeder and participating in her children and grandchildren's activities. Mom lived a full and exuberant life. Through all of the challenges that were thrown her way, she persevered beyond belief. Never one to give up, she faced life head on. It is this trait that has been instilled within her children and grandchildren forever. Granny touched the lives of many people and we are saddened that she has left us so early. We look forward to the day that we will all meet again to rekindle the warmth, love and zest for life that we shared. The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the health care professionals at the St. Boniface General Hospital and the Grace General Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12 at Neil Bardal Funeral Home, 984 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated, to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
