GEORGE RICHARD REID March 17, 1942 - April 8, 2005 A kind and wonderful man has gone to his well deserved rest. Although we, his family, are devastated by our loss, we will see him always, in everything that is kind and good, beautiful, fair, and fun. George passionately and bravely fought a terrible foe, Cancer, for five long difficult years. As in all facets of his life, he led by example, demonstrating the importance of loyalty, the power of positive thinking, and love. He lived his life with vitality and exuberance. He was a people person. He filled the lives of all that knew him with intelligence, wit, consideration, and humility. However, above all, he was a family man - a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was a stalwart friend to many and he will be greatly missed. The world is a better place because of him. George was born and raised in Winnipeg - educated at St. Ignatius School, St. Paul's College, and the University of Manitoba. The majority of his professional career was spent in the electrical industry, where he made many lasting friendships. Twenty-one years were spent at B.A. Robinson Co., working alongside a family that became very dear to him. George retired from Westburne Electric in the year 2000. George's death has created a huge void in our lives. Left to mourn his loss are his loving wife Pat (Campbell); his children and their partners, Scott and Cindy, Bob and Nathalie, Susie and Mathieu, and Claire and Ariel; three precious grandchildren, Maxime, Paige, and Chloe; and a large, close extended family. Our family would like to thank the staff of the Oncology Department of the Victoria General Hospital and the Home Care and Palliative Care professionals who gave so much of their time and compassion. To our friends and family - we love you and hold you dear to our hearts. You have sustained us through many sorrowful times. George was a lifelong member of Saint Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, from where his funeral mass will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 13. (located at 255 Stafford St.). In lieu of flowers, friends may choose to make a donation in his memory to CancerCare Manitoba or to a charity of their choice. Today, tomorrow, our whole lives through. We will always love and remember you. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca

We were very sorry to hear from Margot that George had passed away. Of course the beach is the only place we crossed paths and for some reason one memory that comes to mind, is George dressed as a fisherman wheeling a mermaid around the Community Club! You are all in our thoughts and prayers and hope that happy memories help this sad time to be easier. - Posted by: Marj and Ron Hewitt (Acquaintance) on: Apr 23, 2005

Our life at Matlock will not be quite the same without our friend George. We feel so privileged to have known him the past 10 years. George and Pat immediately welcomed the B.C.ers to their warm and wonderful world at the beach. We'll miss George's sense of humor, his wit and smile. We're all better people for having known him. George leaves a beautiful legacy in his children and grandchildren and we look forward to sharing stories with them around bonfires in the summers to come. It is with a heavy heart that we say "adieu" to our friend and neighbour. With love, The Solinsky Clan - Posted by: Keith, Renee, Kolby and Kramer Solinsky (Family) on: Apr 12, 2005

We are so very saddened at the news of the passing of George. He certainly fought hard to beat this horrible disease and he is an inspiration to us all. George was a wonderful man! Our sincerest sympathy is extended to Pat and the family. - Posted by: Murray & Eleanor Krovats (Friend) on: Apr 11, 2005
