LILLIAN GREER (nee FERGUSON) Peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2005 Lillian Greer passed away at Concordia General Hospital at the age of 82 years with family by her side. She is survived by her daughter Lynn Galka (Ron) and her brother Arthur Ferguson. She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Olive Ferguson of Portage la Prairie, and Donalda Ferguson of Neepawa and many nieces and nephews. Lillian was predeceased by her husband Bert; her parents, William and Annie; her sister Edith (Fred) Jenkins; and her brothers, William and Kenneth. Born in Helston, MB on October 30, 1922, she attended Bear Creek School to grade 10 and completed grades 11 and 12 at Neepawa Collegiate. She attended Teachers College in Winnipeg and began her teaching career at Woodside School and Sinclairville, Bear Creek and Dominion City before moving to Winnipeg to teach at Luxton School. As a young woman, she enjoyed bowling and curling and met her husband Bert on the curling rink. They married in 1954 and enjoyed 14 years of happiness before he passed away in 1968. Rather than returning to teaching, Lillian attended R.R.C.C. and completed the library technician course and worked at the extension library. Upon retirement, Lillian travelled, and became an avid bridge player with the Fort Garry seniors. The family would like to thank the staff at Maples Personal Care Home and the nurses at Concordia 3rd Floor. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 East at Navin Road with viewing one half hour prior.
