LIAM BRENDAN O'CONNELL (Bill) Suddenly after a lengthy struggle with respiratory illness, Liam passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the age of 72. Liam was predeceased by his parents, Bridget and Joseph O'Connell in 1940 and older brother Sean, in 1931. Liam is survived by his three sons, Warren (Lorraine), Kevin and Shawn (Margaret); his three grandsons, Ryan, Matthew and Michael; and his ex-wife and close friend Myrtle O'Connell; as well as nieces and nephews, and many friends. Liam retired from Air Canada in 1990, after a 30 year career. He was a very active union member with the I.A.M. Local 714, where he served several terms as president of the local. Thank you to the nurses and staff at St. Boniface General Hospital, MICU, for your excellent care. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 15 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Dad, you were our best friend. Until we meet again. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Liam's memory to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
